We are excited to announce the 10th Human Rights Paper Session, co-hosted by an esteemed group of institutions including the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights, the International Centre for the Promotion of Human Rights at the Local and Regional Levels, and the University of Graz’s UNESCO Chair in Human Rights and Human Security, alongside the May 18 Institute Chonnam National University and the Gwangju International Center. This event will take place from 15-17 May 2025, during the World Human Rights Cities Forum (WHRCF) in the vibrant City of Gwangju, South Korea.
We invite human rights researchers and practitioners to contribute to this vital conversation by submitting papers on the theme “Peace and Solidarity: The Role of Human Rights Cities in Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding.” Potential participants may delve into sub-themes including:
- The dynamics of peace and solidarity within human rights cities
- The challenges human rights cities face during periods of war and violence
- Strategies that human rights cities can adopt to foster peace and reconciliation
- Collaborative efforts among cities, both locally and globally, for effective peacebuilding
Selected papers will be presented live during the Forum, and presenters will have the opportunity to submit their work for publication in “The Journal of Democracy and Human Rights,” a reputable, peer-reviewed journal indexed in the Korean Citation Index (KCI).
